In 2015 you have ONE job.

Fox News apparently doesn’t believe that Obama is a war-time president. Though down-shifted, the Oil Wars are still raging. Fox and GOP-fundraisers are already talking about expanding American international warfare.   Those are our choices now, low-burn war or super-war. How did we get stuck here? Reaganomics and WEALTH INEQUALITY.   If you want this to change you have to get back in touch with your inner Democratic-Socialist — and your inner Street Protester and … your inner CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT signer. –

Want clean oceans? Want clean energy? Want to end war? Want to bring jobs home? Want to protect animals from cruelty? Want to protect children from poisons? Want to protect women from being enslaved by theocracy? Want to jail bad bankers? Want to take weapons away from city and county policing? Want to see more opportunities for regular Americans? Want to be able to buy a home? Want to be out of debt? Want universal single payer healthcare?

One thing is overarching all of our actions. One thing must happen first. We must get money out of politics and scare the hell out of the ultra-rich by SHEER NUMBERS of ANGRY AMERICANS on strike in the STREET.  Our fury, our votes, our lawsuits… but mostly our numbers with a SINGLE DEMAND.  Think about it for 2015

Do you remember what big protests look like?

Guns are tools; tools to make a higher body count

Guns Are Tools… To Make The Body Count Higher.

Excerpt from a blog at “The Progressive Cynic”

“Guns don’t kill people; people kill people” or “ Limiting guns will only lead to violent people simply using other methods of killing large numbers of people”

While it is true that guns are simply tools and have no ability to harm anybody on their own, the assertion that they have no part in the perpetration of violence is absurd.

If properly motivated, somebody can kill their enemy with a pair of nail-clippers, but this is irrelevant to the greater regulatory scheme. Just because there are other ways for people to kill one another, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t in the public interest to restrict the most common way people currently kill each other.

Guns give people a quick, easy, cheap, and relatively detached (compared to stabbings/beatings) method of killing people—even large numbers of people. By making killing easy, guns directly contribute to the thought process that must go into a killing and facilitate even higher body counts. Without guns, people would still kill others, but it would be far more difficult to accrue high body counts.

There is a good reason why guns have become the mass murderer’s weapon of choice; they are simply the most efficient way of getting the job done. Weapons other than guns can be used to kill large numbers of people, but none are as easy to obtain or use as guns:

  • Bombs may be lethal to large numbers of people, but they take expertise to build and are very risky for an amateur to handle (just look at the number of people who manage to mangle themselves playing with fireworks).
  • Knives are lethal in the right hands, but they can only kill one person at a time and have no ability to kill at a distance.
  • Cars can been used to kill people but they are far too large and unwieldy to replace guns (you can’t exactly put one in your backpack to sneak into a school).

A tool may simply be a shortcut to a desired result, but it isn’t fair to say that the tool has no part in achieving a result. A man with a hammer and a man with a gun could kill an identical number of people, but the gun certainly makes it more likely that the person will succeed, faster in their killing spree, and more likely to kill their specific targets.

Guns don’t kill people; people kill people. However, people with guns can easily and quickly kill a lot of people, while those who don’t have guns, cannot. In a country flooded with guns, the mass murderer (or simply the person who wishes to kill one person) is able to obtain their weapon easily and without much risk. Gun control laws may not be perfect, but they are a start on a long road towards a safer America
(This is part of a longer blog…. but I felt this part deserved special attention)

Partisanship? No. Elites either control you or they don’t

When the elites began to use extremists to gain power.

I wrote this during a debate with a fellow who blamed “liberal overreach” during the presidential election of 2000 for the radical right-wing supreme court we see today.  The person who started the thread blamed liberals for “our gun problems.”
I felt he need to write something about the history of partisanship, elections and gun-nuttery.  This came out:

The “partisanship” of our nation has changed a few times in modern history.
After the 1933 attempt to violently overthrow FDR with an army that was to march up to the white house (look up  “the 1933 business plot”) neither neo-liberals (also called fiscal conservatives) nor general-welfare-liberals (also called liberal-progressives and social justice liberals) trusted the party of the Wall St. Fat Cats. So from 1934 until 1951, the GOP was denied the ability to steer the bus.

Eisenhower Republicans were the hope that this party could and would govern, and the crazies, the racists, religious extremists and the secessionists, were effectively blocked from power by the elites in that party. But in 1963-64, when the south was forced to change Jim Crow, the “conservative” took on a whole new meaning. (Even Ronald Reagan as governor saw the danger and passed a LOT of gun control. He was also scared of armed black men having any 2nd amendment rights. )

But it was around 1981 that the crazies got back into the game… and the elite decided to use them for power. The Bushes used Reagan’s crazies and “the moral majority” … and yes, “well behaved” KKK types to sew together a new power that the elites would use… and do use to fuck us all… left right and center. We can’t stop the corporate march to global predatory capitalism. They literally pass laws that say our votes don’t count in “free trade agreements”…

They fear our votes. They fear us knowing the truth. And… they fear you realizing that Florida wasn’t about “liberals”… so don’t scare them. Keep believing. Keep believing.

Unless you want to be royalty, you are actually liberal

A conservative says

Most of us are Liberal whether we understand that or not… but some really are not. They would like to return to a Royal/Feudal state… as long as they are the Royals.

Sanford Florida Covered Up Zimmerman’s Guilt?

Trayvon Martin medical examiner to file $100 million lawsuit against state

Reports have surfaced that Dr. Shiping Bao, who examined the body of slain Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, is preparing to file a lawsuit against the state. He claims that state prosecutors, as well as the Sanford, Florida Police Department, were biased against Martin and that they possibly “threw the case.” This comes amidst news of his firing by Volusia County last week.
